Mayo Clinic, the US-based academic medical centre, and Einstein Hospital Israelita, one of Latin America's leading healthcare organisations, have expanded their collaboration within Mayo Clinic Platform Connect by making Einstein's de-identified clinical data available through the global health data network.
The move is intended to support the development, validation and scaling of artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled healthcare solutions using a broader representation of patient populations. It also strengthens the representation of South American clinical data within the platform's international dataset.
According to John Halamka, president of Mayo Clinic Platform, the collaboration contributes to building a global health data network that enables researchers and innovators to develop trustworthy AI applications across diverse populations. "By building a global health data network, we can accelerate the discovery, development and deployment of trusted AI-enabled solutions to improve care for patients everywhere," he said.
For Einstein Hospital Israelita, based in São Paulo (Brasil), the expanded collaboration follows its participation in the Mayo Clinic Platform Early Adopter Program, through which the organisation prepared its infrastructure for secure cloud-based data sharing. Sidney Klajner, president of Einstein Hospital Israelita, said the collaboration enables secure multicentre studies, AI validation and the implementation of AI-based solutions while maintaining patient privacy.
Global data network
Mayo Clinic Platform_Connect currently consists of eight member organisations across seven countries and three continents. Participating organisations retain control over their own de-identified data, while researchers and technology developers can use the platform's secure environment to develop and validate AI solutions. Besides Mayo Clinic and Einstein Hospital Israelita, participating organisations include University Health Network (Canada), Sheba Medical Center (Israel), Mercy (United States), Aga Khan University (Kenya) and Seoul National University Hospital (South Korea).
The platform is designed to increase the diversity of clinical datasets by bringing together healthcare organisations with different patient populations, demographics and disease profiles. According to Mayo Clinic, this helps improve the robustness and applicability of AI models across healthcare settings.
Broader AI strategy
The announcement builds on Mayo Clinic's broader strategy to expand international collaboration around AI and health data. In late 2025, the organisation introduced Mayo Clinic Platform_Insights, a digital platform that provides healthcare organisations with AI-supported data insights, clinical expertise and implementation guidance to support digital transformation.
Platform_Insights uses knowledge and models developed through Platform_Connect, allowing participating organisations to access validated AI solutions and best practices without having to develop the underlying infrastructure themselves. At its launch, Mayo Clinic said the platform aimed to make AI adoption more accessible while supporting better clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.
Together, Platform_Connect and Platform_Insights form complementary parts of Mayo Clinic's international AI ecosystem: one focused on secure data collaboration and AI development, the other on translating those developments into practical tools for healthcare organisations worldwide.
